Like my previous review; Calabrese Salami & Marinated Peppers Thin Crust Pizza this selection is another winner for @Kroger. Another product of Germany that puts most domestic frozen pizza manufacturers to shame.
Like its predecessor, this pizza bakes on the top oven rack at 420 degrees for ten to twelve minutes. The prebaked crust allows for a quicker cook time.
The Doppio (or double) Pepperoni & Mozzarella is very tasty. The top of the pizza is covered with both tiny slices and minced bits of pepperoni. Slices of Calabrese salami are part of the toppings and lend another level of flavor.
The Pomodoro tomato sauce is simple, although the basil that usually flavors the sauce is absent in this one. It has a good flavor and there is just enough on the crust. The combination of the sauce and pepper flakes gives this pizza a pleasant kick.
There is just the right amount of Mozzarella and Grana Padano cheese to balance the meats and sauce. It bakes to a lovely golden brown color and stands up to the other ingredients without overpowering them. The folks who designed this pizza understand that you don’t need a pound of cheese to have a good pizza.
This pizza, like the previous reviewed version, is smaller than most other frozen pizzas. Couple it with a nice Caesar salad and you would have a nice lite meal. I would recommend this pizza to anyone. Enjoy!
